The UK Immigration Salary List (ISL) remains a key part of the Skilled Worker visa system, setting the minimum salary requirements for eligible roles. It replaced the Shortage Occupation List in April 2024, aligning with the UK government’s approach to workforce planning and immigration control.
The Immigration Salary List outlines roles where UK-based employers can hire overseas workers at a reduced salary threshold compared to the standard Skilled Worker visa requirements. This ensures that sectors facing recruitment challenges can access the international talent they need while maintaining salary standards that protect the domestic workforce.
From April 2025, the minimum salary threshold for Skilled Workers on discounted rates will increase from £23,200 per year (£11.90 per hour) to £25,000 per year (£12.82 per hour). This includes health and care workers, those extending visas under the New Entrant rules, STEM PhD holders, and those on the Immigrant Salary List.
